Sixth Grade Students are going to work on their typing skills this quarter. The MMSD expectation is that students will type 5 words per minute (WPM) for each grade they are in school. So, sixth graders should be able to type 30 WPM with 95% accuracy. The students will spend some time every day practicing their skills. It would be good for the students to spend some time at home practicing as well. Below you find a few links to some websites that can be used for practice. All the sites can be used free.
Students are going to start the year learning about Internet Safety and how to be safe online. They will also practice their typing skills everyday. Seventh graders should be able to type 35 word per minutes (WPM) with 95% accuracy. The students will use the free website, https://www.typingclub.com. Students are encouraged to practice their typing at home.
Students will spend some time talking about their Digital Footprint. Time will be spent each day typing, to increase typing speed to 45 WPM with 95% accuracy. Students should spend time at home practicing their typing.
Students continued to to research and present information about being safe on the Internet.
The eighth graders then started their shoe project. They began with drawing their idea for a shoe on paper . From there they moved onto drawing their shoe in Google Drawing. They designed a logo using Canva. After that they moved onto creating a website and writing a script for a commercial. . The students recorded the audio to have played over the morning announcements. The last thing they will do is create an actual prototype of their shoe.
